“Enhancing Diabetes Care with Tandem Insulin Pumps”

Managing diabetes with advanced tools like the t:slim X2 insulin pump and its Control-IQ technology still requires personal responsibility. While Control-IQ helps reduce glucose level fluctuations, it relies on accurate input about meals, exercise, and sleep. The system won’t function properly if you don’t use all its components, such as the CGM, infusion sets, and pump cartridges, as recommended. If the pump isn’t receiving CGM readings, it can’t adjust insulin doses. Always be aware of your symptoms and follow your doctor’s advice, as the system might not detect or address every situation.

Currently, there are no additional feature upgrades for the t:slim X2 insulin pump with Control-IQ technology, which is available only in the U.S., Canada, and select regions. Future updates may not be available everywhere and depend on regulatory approvals. Software updates are offered to customers under warranty who update their pump, and training might be necessary. Tandem may discontinue some features and software at its discretion.

Individual experiences with the system can vary, so it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider about your condition and treatment. Before using any Tandem Diabetes Care product, review the Important Safety Information. Remove the infusion set before flying in non-pressurized aircraft or those designed for aerobatics, as rapid altitude or gravity changes can affect insulin delivery and cause injury. Keep your Tandem pump within safe temperature ranges to prevent insulin from freezing or degrading.

The t:slim X2 pump and Control-IQ technology are intended for single-patient use with NovoLog and Humalog U-100 insulin. The pump is designed for subcutaneous insulin delivery and can communicate with compatible devices for automated insulin dosing. It’s suitable for individuals aged six and older.

Control-IQ technology works with a compatible Continuous Glucose Monitor (iCGM) and the ACE pump to automate insulin delivery based on iCGM readings and predicted glucose levels. It also provides correction boluses when glucose is expected to exceed a set threshold. It’s designed for people with Type 1 diabetes aged six and older but is not suitable for those under six, pregnant women, dialysis patients, or those needing less than 10 insulin units daily or weighing under 55 lbs.

Users should follow all instructions for using the insulin pump, CGM, and system components. Regularly test blood glucose levels, count carbs accurately, maintain diabetes self-care skills, visit healthcare providers, and have adequate hearing and vision to understand pump features, including alarms and alerts. Remove the t:slim X2 pump, CGM sensor, and transmitter before MRI, CT, or diathermy treatments. For more safety information, visit the Tandem Diabetes Care website.
